Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the Production Team
The core production team for this production will be:
Director: John Pendergast
Musical Director: Kent Ross
Choreographer: Bridie Clark
Production Coordinator: Annette Neilson
Will you be staging the show with a choir? If so, how can I be involved in the choir?
These auditions are for on-stage cast (including ensemble). We will be bringing a choir into the show and will be announcing more on this next year. If you’re interested in being part of the choir, stay tuned to our social media pages and this website for announcements.
Can anyone audition?
Assuming you meet the age requirements, yes. Auditions are not restricted to existing BATS members. If you are succesful in the show you will need to become a member and pay a show fee. Details on this are in the audition information below.
Why is there an age restriction?
The musical of The Hunchback of Notre Dame utilises the music from the Disney movie, however the story follows the original book. It therefore contains quite heavy material. This includes violence and sexual references.
The BATS Committee and Hunchback Production Team made the decision to therefore restrict the show to cast ages 16 and over.
I’ve never heard of the theatre. Is it new?
It most certainly is new! We’re super excited to be among the first to perform a large-scale musical in there. We had a look through it earlier this year and it’s an awesome venue.
What if I’m worried about being able to pay the membership and show fees?
We understand that everyone’s under a lot of financial stress at the moment with the cost of living increases. Because of this, we’re happy to be flexible.
We typically expect to have the membership fee portion paid by the first rehearsal. This is to ensure that all cast are financial members of BATS and therefore covered by both the BATS rules of operations, and by our insurance.
For the show fees, we are happy to arrange a payment plan to pay it off gradually. More information will be provided to cast about how this can be arranged.
My question isn’t answered. How do I ask something else?
Make sure you read through the audition information below as that should answer most questions. At the end of that document is details on how to contact us if you have any other questions.
We’ll also update this page if we have any other questions come through that we think everyone should know, so make sure you check back here.
